Thank You, Voters: 11 of 15 Avon Dems Candidates Elected

Thank you Avon voters and volunteers! According to unofficial results from the Nov. 5 election, 11 of the 15 Avon Democrats candidates were victorious! We retained the majority on the Board of Education, flipped control of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and picked up new seats on the Town Council, Board of Finance, and Board of Assessment Appeals. We went from having 19 Republican to 12 Democrat elected officials to 16 Republican-15 Democrat!

Congratulations to Town Council members Dan Polhamus and Anthony Weber; BOE members Debra O'Brien Chute, Jackie Gage Blea, Jason Indomenico, and Laura Robinson Young; BOF members Cathy Salchert and Ellen Retelle; ZBA members Eileen Carroll and Christy Yaros; and BAA member Kimberly Kersey.

Our Mission:

The Avon Democrats believe that a vibrant two-party system is the best way to foster healthy discussions about our town’s vision for progress and growth, its need to attract and retain businesses and homeowners, and its strategies to deliver the services our citizens expect – such as premier schools, well-maintained infrastructure, services for older citizens, and preserved and accessible open space.

Our Vision:

The Avon Democratic Party strives to promote and maintain values and ideals including continuing to improve the quality of life for all in the community—encompassing education, public safety, effective land use, conservation of the environment, and recreation—by working to elect candidates to public office who will serve the community.

Our Philosophy:

Democrats respect individual rights and responsibilities while believing in the power of shared governance to benefit the entire community.
