Attorney Kimberly Kersey, a former Tax Board Commissioner for the state of New Jersey, brings 20 years of commercial litigation experience and knowledge to the Board of Assessment Appeals race. Appointed by the governor of New Jersey, she was responsible to hear tax appeals for 41 municipalities. In Mount Holly Township, New Jersey, Kimberly served on the Town Council and on the Planning and Zoning Board. She was a college professor in the area of business law and is a licensed realtor with Coldwell Banker. She currently works in community relations with a Connecticut non-profit, Operation Fuel.
She and her husband, Jason, moved to Avon in 2018. They have three children, including one third grader at Roaring Brook School, and their family dog, Piper. Kimberly volunteers with the Roaring Brook School Parent/Teacher Organization Committees including the annual book fair, art appreciation in the classroom, and seasonal window displays for the school.
Why I’m Running
I believe that we all have experience and talents that the community can benefit from. It would be my honor to serve the community of Avon in this capacity. I have the maturity, temperament, and professional experience to bring a fair resolution to taxpayer appeals.
As your representative to the Board of Assessment Appeals, I will work to:
- Fairly evaluate property value.
- Advocate for improving our community amenities – like the proposed town center, enhanced open space, and improved recreation areas – all of which will add to our overall property values.
