Why I’m Running
Avon is a wonderful place to live and work; however, there are aspects of Avon that can be improved. Though we live in difficult financial times in Connecticut, we have an opportunity to build on Avon’s foundation and not just survive, but thrive. It must be a priority to create a long-term comprehensive strategic plan to ensure financial stability and continued quality of life. Avon’s strategic plan would include detailed steps for achieving both objectives. For quality of life, we need to ensure that our schools are caring, safe, and academically challenging environments for children, youth, and adults. Additionally, the preservation of parks and green spaces is critical to attracting millennials and keeping residents here longterm.
As a member of the Board of Finance, I will use my experience managing a $2.3 million budget for the Capitol Region Education Council to plan strategically, seek out new revenue sources, and uphold our community’s financial obligations to our population.
